About Baton RougeChorus

The Baton Rouge Chorus is an organization of female singers, who meet regularly to practice, perform, socialize, and have fun. We welcome singers of all ages, walks of life, and from all parts of the Baton Rouge area.

We sing at annual shows, a number of community events, and at an annual competition. We are available to sing at your next function or event. If you're looking for a unique musical experience to liven up your event, please check out our Hire Us section.

In addition to sharing our music with others, another great passion of ours is learning more about the art of a capella singing. Vocal instruction is a regular part of chorus rehearsals, and a very important component of the chorus experience. Several times a year, we will get coaching from a visiting master in the art of barbershop, from whom we learn the finer points of the craft.

CompetitionIn the spring of every year, Baton Rouge Chorus participates in the Region 10 chorus competition in Houston, Texas. Competition is a special time for quartets and choruses from our region to come together to sing for each other, and get some constructive feedback from a panel of judges. The winners of the regional competition in both quartet and chorus categories get to participate in International Competition, which is held in the fall in a city selected each year. In 2018, International Competition will be held in St. Louis and in 2019 it will be New Orleans!. Click here to learn more.

Most choruses have a number of members who form their own quartets in addition to singing with the chorus. It is a fun way to build musical skills and sisterhood.  Click here to see our quartet section to learn more about them.

Baton Rouge Chorusis a chapter of Sweet Adelines, International, a non-profit organization of approximately 30,000 members in choruses and quartets, worldwide. The Headquarters is in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
